Eagles(老鹰)乐队是美国七十年代最成功的乐队，将它们称为美国乃至世界最杰出的摇滚乐队之一也一点不过分。
乐队的每张专辑都较好也叫座，唱片销售额已近４亿美元，他们的每一张专辑的销量都超出金唱片的销量（即五十万张）。尤其是乐队于1976年底推出的专辑《加洲旅店》（Hotel California)被誉为七十年代美国最重要的专辑唱片。
<<老鹰>>(eagles)乐队是一支极具亲和力的乐队，走的是一条从“乡村摇滚”到“纯摇滚”的路线，曲调起伏不大，但显得极为顺畅，旋律相当优美，尤其是早期还经常使用一种班卓琴，极富乡村特色。
唐亨利（DON HENLEY）是乐队的主唱和灵魂人物，来自德克萨斯州，1947年出生。唐亨利也是乐队的鼓手，这摇滚乐队中是极为少见的：主唱要么是吉他手，要么是贝司，而且一般也只是节奏吉他之类。另一主唱及键盘手是格伦弗雷（GLENN FREY），他的声较亨利略显活跃，音调较高，如著名的《我无法告诉你为什 么》（I CAN`T TELL YOU WHY）就是他演唱的。格伦弗雷 与唐亨利都属于乐队核心人物，从创建直到解散一直坚守自己的岗位，乐队的大部分词曲都出自于此二人之手。吉他手伯尼利登（BERNIE LEADON）也是乐队的创始人之一，他尤其擅长班卓琴，乐队早期乡村摇滚风格与他的影响不无关系。不过1975年后，利登离队，由乔沃什(Joe Walsh) 接替，乐风便有所转向。乐队在这一年以一曲《Lying Eyes》获得葛莱美大奖。乐队贝司手由兰迪麦斯纳（Randy Meisner)担任，他也是早期创建者，原先是加州乡村摇滚乐队“波科”(Poco)的元老之一。乐队另一吉他手唐弗尔德(Don Felder)与一九七四年加入，使乐队实力大增。他娴熟的指法刚一出手，便成为乐队的主音吉他手，如在《加州旅店》、《我无法告诉你为什么》等曲目中都有上乘表现。
